Professor Mann honoured with knighthood for life-saving nutrition work

The Riddet Institute congratulates Professor Jim Mann for his citation to be a Knight Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit in the New Year Honours 2022. Professor Mann has been a Principal Investigator in the Riddet Institute since it first became a Centre of Research Excellence in 2008. Over that time he has led research which has significantly extended our understanding of the effect of food structure on nutrition and health, and has created substantial national and international impact by providing advice to health organisations on nutritional outcomes. He is also the Director of Healthier Lives – He Oranga Hauora National Science Challenge and the Co-director of the Edgar National Centre for Diabetes and Obesity Research. Professor Mann has an ongoing programme of research in the Riddet Institute CoRE on indices of nutritional impact.
