Inaugural Riddet Institute Enterprise & Innovation Workshop

On Wednesday 7th & 14th July 2017, the Riddet Institute hosted the Inaugural Enterprise & Innovation Workshop for PhD students, led by Dr Chris Kirk.

Dr Kirk is a specialist in the cutting-edge lean business model and has been teaching students to use it to pitch effectively to funding committees. This special Riddet Institute workshop was a first: the 6-week course was condensed into an intensive 2-day workshop with work being carried out by the students in the interim week. Dr Kirk’s workshops are unique as they apply the lean business model and funding pitches to a Science/R&D context; not a business one.

Feedback from students has been extremely positive. One student commenting that “It was a great workshop which taught me how to translate science into actual application and commercialisation”. There is hope that further workshops will occur in the future.
