Dr Pamela von Hurst is Professor Emerita and Honorary Senior Research Fellow in the College of Health, Massey University. She is a nutrition scientist well known in international circles for her work in vitamin D and bone health. Dr von Hurst has extensive experience in nutrition research including clinical trials and population studies, and an impressive history of postgraduate research supervision. In 2023 she was the winner of the Massey University Research medal for Supervision.
Dr von Hurst is especially interested in finding ways to ensure that nutrition research achieves impact in the lives of the people it affects. To this end she continues to be involved in Continuing Professional Development for health professionals, serving on the Nutrition Society of New Zealand Registration Panel, organising conferences, webinars, workshops and symposia. She also serves as the Honorary Secretary of the Federation of Oceanic Nutrition Societies, working to increase networking and connections between nutrition and health professionals throughout New Zealand, Australia and the Pacific Islands.
