Intern’s communication skills garner award from Pūhoro STEMM Academy

Pictured above, summer intern Quitara Naera (Ngāpuhi, Ngāti Whakaue) has won this year’s Pūhoro STEMM Communication Award. At the Pūhoro Internship Programme 2024-2025 Pō Whakanui event held on February 12, 2025, to mark the end of the programme, Quitara won the award for her academic poster. The poster detailed her research during her internship with the Riddet Institute for the 2024-2025 summer. Her research topic was: Improving the Fermentation Efficiency of a Lentil Based Substrate. Born in Feilding, Quitara is currently studying a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery at the University of Otago.
