Mariam's research focuses on microalgae and microbial bioprocessing, with the aim of improving this biotechnology for the sustainable production of future foods and other value-added products. Mariam has joined Professor Munish Puri’s Food bioprocessing group at the Riddet Institute to develop alternative proteins. Mariam received her PhD in Biological Engineering from Dalhousie University in Canada.
