Riddet Institute scientists often receive awards, both for their research and innovation achievements.
  • Riddet Institute Director conferred with CNZM

    Distinguished Professor Harjinder Singh was made a Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit (CNZN) in January 2025 for his outstanding services to food science.

  • Riddet Fellow and Massey alumni wins the JC Andrews food science award

    Dr Mike Boland's substantial career in food science innovation and dynamic entrepreneurial skills have been recognised in a JC Andrews Hall of Fame Award in July 2025.

  • Professor Emeritus awarded 2025 Charles Fleming Senior Scientist Award for research in DNA mutation prevention

    Professor Emeritus Geoffrey Jameson received the 2025 Charles Fleming Senior Scientist Award by the Royal Society Te Apārangi, which will support his research in disease prevention.

  • Distinguished Professor Harjinder Singh awarded prestigious Pickering Medal

    Leading researcher and Director of the Riddet Institute, Distinguished Professor Harjinder Singh FRSNZ, has been honoured with the prestigious Pickering Medal by the Royal Society Te Apārangi.

  • Scientist researching processed milk digestion wins global dairy award

    Dr Natalia Ahlborn wowed judges at an international dairy industry award, after coming second in the International Dairy Federation (IDF) Professor Pavel Jelen Early Career Scientist Prize.

  • Director honoured with prestigious IFT Lifetime Achievement Award

    The IFT Lifetime Achievement Award is considered among the highest honours awarded in the science of food community. Dist. Prof Singh received the award on Sunday evening, July 14, 2024, at a special awards ceremony and reception.  

  • Dr Thomas Do wins IUFoST Young Scientist Award (2024)

    Dr Do was one of eight young scientists selected for the highest honour awarded to Young Scientists by IUFoST. Dr Do presented his research at the 22nd IUFoST World Congress of Food Science and Technology in Rimini, Italy.

  • Innovative research on plant-based cheeses wins national competition

    Dr Debashree Roy from Massey University won the Falling Walls Lab Aotearoa New Zealand competition (2023) in Wellington, winning her a ticket to the global final at the Falling Walls Lab and Science Summit in Berlin. Dr Roy presented on a breakthrough in making plant-based cheese by the Riddet Institute.

  • Intestinal disorder research gets funding

    Dr Noha Nasef won the Career Development Award from the Health Research Council (HRC). The award comes with funding for her study into the dietary management of ulcerative colitis.
